We are delighted to announce that the Denver
Gaels are hosting the 2004 North American County Board playoffs over
the holiday Labor Day weekend in Boulder. These playoffs have emerged
as the most followed sporting event for Gaelic sports fans in North America,
eclipsed only by the annual All-Ireland Hurling and Football championships
in Dublin's Croke Park every September. We expect between five and ten
thousand people to attend the annual national showcase of Gaelic Games
in the United States.
All games will be held at the excellent Pleasant
View Soccer facility on the outskirts of Boulder. The facility is
the practice ground for the Colorado Rapids reserves soccer team (formally
called Boulder Nova) and the quality of the surface is second to none
and perfect for Gaelic Football and Hurling. Click
here for more information on the facility.
All incoming flights with teams will be met at the airport terminal and
directed to waiting buses which will bring them to the hotels. Bus transportation
from the hotel to the pitches will be quick and easy due to the short
distance involved (3 miles). Transport to the playing fields in Boulder
from the hotels will average 5-10 minutes in duration. Transport from
the airport to the hotels will take approximately 50 minutes.
The weather in early September in Colorado is consistently good. Conditions
would most likely be sunny for the finals with temperatures in the 70s/80s
and little or no humidity.
